Merriweather Post Pavilion

Recognized by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the top amphitheaters in the country, Merriweather Post Pavilion has been dazzling concertgoers for generations. Jimi Hendrix played here, and so did Taylor Swift.

Chrysalis

The Chrysalis is the eye-catching centerpiece of Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. This 5,000 square foot multi-purpose amphitheater doubles as a whimsical urban-scale sculpture that harmonizes with its lush forest surroundings.  The Chrysalis has hosted orchestral performances, children’s concerts, the Books in Bloom festival, private events and more.  2020 Season Updates

Artists in residence

The Howard Hughes Corporation, in collaboration with the Howard County Arts Council, has launched the Merriweather District Artists-in-Residence (MD AIR) program. Four selected artists spent up to two months creating work in a medium of their choosing. The studio space is nestled within the Merriweather District, with residential accommodations within walking distance.

Books in Bloom

Books in Bloom brings together dozens of the country’s best and brightest writers for a daylong festival. Readings, panel discussions and author conversations feature critically acclaimed and bestselling authors. Appealing to omnivorous book club members, politically savvy professionals and young readers, Books in Bloom’s diverse audiences gather to discuss the issues of the day and to share the joys of hearing from new and familiar authors.

Soulful Symphony

Founded in 2000, Soulful Symphony is an innovative 75-member orchestra blending American pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, classical, gospel, and country music into dazzling fusions. They’re reimagining what’s possible in a modern orchestra with a distinctive, colorful style that celebrates America’s multifaceted population. Their musicians have shared the stage with artists including Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Michael Bublé, Janet Jackson and The Rolling Stones.  Soulful Symphony is in residence at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
